Meet Dr. Lohner
W. Scott Lohner, MD is extensively trained in Ophthalmology and specializes in laser refractive and cataract surgery with over ten years of experience in performing LASIK. Having served thousands of patients with all types of eye disease, Dr. Lohner finds his greatest satisfaction is helping patients lose their dependence on glasses and in restoring vision that had previously been lost. “We’re getting great results! I love watching patients achieve clear vision with the personalized treatment we give.”
As a recipient of LASIK several years ago, Dr. Lohner knows personally what it feels like to experience the wonders of laser vision correction. This surgery has provided him with great vision without the need for contacts or glasses. “I love the opportunity now as a surgeon to help provide this same miracle to others. My experience stems from both the patient’s point of view and the surgeon’s point of view, which allows me to truly empathize with those who are contemplating making this significant change in their lives.”
Dr. Lohner’s practice extends throughout Utah County with offices in Provo, Orem and American Fork. He also travels down south to Delta and Fillmore where he enjoys providing surgical care in a rural setting.
Dr. Lohner graduated from the University of Utah Medical School where he subsequently completed his internship of combined internal medicine and ophthalmology. During his internship, his interests focused on glaucoma and cataract surgery. His work there has been published in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. His work has also been presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Uveitis Society in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Lohner completed his residency specializing in ophthalmology at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana where he presented research annually and was awarded honors for his work relating to refractive surgery.
Following residency training, Dr. Lohner became certified in laser refractive surgery by completing courses at University of California San Francisco and in Southern California. He continues to maintain certification in the latest technologies.
Dr. Lohner is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the Utah Medical Association and the Utah Ophthalmology Society. He is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and updates his medical education through regular readings of peer-reviewed literature sponsored by Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
