Meet Dr. Wilkinson
Justin T. Wilkinson, MD is a fellowship-trained subspecialist in the field of cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery. He specializes in cornea transplants, laser vision correction including LASIK, advanced cataract surgery, and ocular surface diseases and infections. He also provides general ophthalmology care including the management of trauma, glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, and refractive error (myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism).
Dr. Wilkinson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Utah State University majoring in Cellular & Molecular Biology. He attended medical school at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) followed by a combined internal medicine and surgery internship at the Legacy Emanuel Hospital and Health Center in Portland, Oregon. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the Casey Eye Institute of the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. Following residency Dr. Wilkinson was selected for subspecialty fellowship training in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery at the Casey Eye Institute. Throughout his education and training Dr. Wilkinson was the recipient of several prestigious grants, scholarships and awards.
Dr. Wilkinson is dedicated to helping people improve their quality of life through improved vision. He has performed research regarding the diagnosis and treatment of several corneal and retinal conditions and has published his work in leading ophthalmology journals and textbooks. He was involved in medical education and curriculum development at UCSF and served as a clinical instructor for medical students and ophthalmology residents at the Casey Eye Institute. He has also used his medical knowledge in many community service opportunities both as a presenter and volunteer including a recent trip to research and treat trachoma in Ethiopia.
Dr. Wilkinson is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
On a personal note…
Dr. Wilkinson was born in Santa Monica, California and raised in Logan, Utah. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Lanie, and their three children. Dr. Wilkinson speaks Spanish fluently and enjoys telemark skiing, climbing, and biking.
