At Excel Cosmetic Surgery Center, we perform a variety of facial cosmetic surgery procedures. These procedures are usually carried out at an outpatient surgical facility, and present very little health risk to the patient. In each case, recovery time is a week or less.
What is Facial Surgery?
Facial surgery refers to a broad category of surgical procedures designed to improve the function, structure, or appearance of the face. It includes both cosmetic surgeries, which enhance aesthetics, and reconstructive surgeries, which restore normal form and function after injury, disease, or congenital conditions. Common cosmetic facial surgeries include facelifts, eyelid surgery, brow lifts, and procedures to contour the jawline or neck. Reconstructive facial surgery may address trauma, skin cancer removal, facial nerve disorders, congenital anomalies, or scarring.
The goal of facial surgery is to create natural, balanced results that harmonize with a patient’s unique facial features while preserving or improving function. Surgeons carefully evaluate anatomy, skin quality, and patient goals to develop a personalized plan. Depending on the procedure, facial surgery can enhance appearance, restore symmetry, improve breathing, repair damaged tissues, or boost overall confidence and comfort.
Chin Implants
Chin implants are a cosmetic facial surgery option designed to enhance the size, shape, or projection of the chin to improve overall facial balance. Made from biocompatible materials, the implant is placed over the natural chin bone to create a more defined profile and better harmony between the chin, jawline, and other facial features. Someone may pursue a chin implant to address a weak or recessed chin, improve facial symmetry, or achieve a stronger side profile. This procedure is often chosen to boost confidence and can be performed alone or alongside other facial surgeries for more balanced, natural-looking results.
Cheek Implants
Cheek implants are a cosmetic facial surgery option used to enhance the volume, contour, and definition of the cheekbones, helping create a more balanced and youthful facial appearance. The implants, made from safe, biocompatible materials, are placed over the cheekbones to add structure and lift to the midface. Someone may pursue cheek implants to address flat or sunken cheeks, restore volume lost with aging, or improve overall facial symmetry. This procedure can enhance natural facial contours, create a more sculpted look, and is often chosen to boost confidence or complement other facial procedures.
Fat Transfer
Fat transfer, also known as fat grafting, is a cosmetic procedure that uses a person’s own fat to restore volume and improve contour in areas of the face or body. Fat is gently removed from areas such as the abdomen or thighs, purified, and then carefully injected into areas that may appear hollow, sunken, or uneven due to aging or weight loss. Someone may pursue fat transfer to achieve natural-looking volume enhancement, smoother contours, and longer-lasting results without synthetic fillers. Because the procedure uses the patient’s own tissue, it offers a more natural feel and can improve overall balance and rejuvenation while also contouring the donor area.

Facial Surgery FAQs
What is the best age to get facial surgery?
The best age for facial cosmetic surgery depends on several factors, such as the surgery performed and the specific patient. For example, many patients find that the best age for a facelift is the mid-40s to early 50s. However, there is a minimum age for facial cosmetic surgery. Minors under the age of 18 cannot get any plastic surgery in the United States without parental consent. The way to determine the best age for your facial surgery procedure is to meet with a surgeon at Excel Eye Center for a consultation. Our surgeons are specially trained to perform many common facial surgeries, including rhinoplasty, facelifts, and otoplasty, in Utah.
Are facelifts permanent?
The outcome after a facelift or any other facial cosmetic surgery is permanent in that the changes made during the procedure are long-term. However, it’s important to understand that the natural aging process may cause the skin to droop again over time. A facelift lasts about 5-10 years for many patients before the slow aging process becomes noticeable. When this happens, some patients get touch-ups or follow-up procedures such as additional facelifts to help maintain the tightened skin and prolong the effects of the initial surgery.
How long is the recovery for a facelift?
It’s important to note that there are stages to the recovery process after receiving a facelift. Immediately after the facelift, you’ll experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort for about a week. After about two weeks, many patients can return to non-strenuous and regular everyday activities. About a month after the surgery, you can resume many everyday activities, such as exercise. From then on, the scarring will begin to fade, and you’ll see the true results of your surgery. While the average recovery for a facelift is about three months, it can take up to 6 to 12 months to fully recover.
