Excel Eye Center ophthalmologist to see patients in Nephi.
James G. Theurer, M.D. will be traveling to Nephi monthly to perform eye surgery.

July 29, 2002, Provo, UT-James G. Theurer, M.D., ophthalmologist at Excel Eye Center of Provo and Payson, will be traveling to Nephi monthly to perform eye surgery and general eye care for residents of Central Utah.

"It can be difficult, especially for elderly patients, to travel to Utah Valley for exams and procedures. By bringing our services to them it can make quality eye care more accessible and affordable," says Dr. Theurer.

Dr. Theurer has extensive training in general ophthalmology and specialty training in the treatment of cataracts. He has performed over 700 cataract surgeries, and regularly lectures to local societies on the importance of eye care and issues affecting the elderly population.

Dr. Theurer studied at the University of Utah School of Medicine and completed an internship in ophthalmology and medicine at the University of Utah. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and obtained a significant portion of his training at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He is a member of The American Academy of Ophthalmology and The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Sugery. Dr. Theurer is currently serving on the Executive Committee of The Utah Ophthalmological Society and is Board Certified in Ophthalmology.
