Jesse N. Hunsaker, M.D.

Diplomate American Board of Ophthalmology

JESSE N. HUNSAKER, M.D. has more than 25 years of experience in ophthalmology and specializes in refractive and cataract surgeries. Dr. Hunsaker has been in private practice since 1982 and has performed thousands of vision correction procedures. His primary interest is in cataract surgery, glaucoma, and diabetic eye exams.

Dr. Hunsaker takes time from his demanding schedule to lend service to the community and foreign countries. "I went into medicine so that I could help make a difference," says Dr. Hunsaker. "There are so many people in the world who need our services. It is a wonderful experience to be a part of what they view as a miracle in their lives."

Dr. Hunsaker has traveled extensively as a volunteer physician to Mexico, Bolivia and Tonga. More recently, he has been involved with vision projects in the Dominican Republic of the Congo sponsored by LDS Humanitarian Services. These volunteer efforts provide medical supplies, treatment and surgeries to those who otherwise never would be able to receive them. He has been involved in teaching medical students at the University of Utah through his role as clinical faculty member and has donated time as a member of the IHC Community Outreach Board.

Dr. Hunsaker graduated from the University of Utah Medical School and served his internship in internal medicine at the University of Utah. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. While there, he was actively involved in neuroradiology and glaucoma research endeavors. Dr. Hunsaker's research has been published in The Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, International clinics of Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Surgery.

Dr. Hunsaker is a member of The American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Utah Ophthalmological Society, The Utah Medical Association and The American College of Surgeons, and he is Board Certified in Ophthalmology.

On a personal note…
