Comprehensive Ophthalmology
JON GUNTHER, M.D., provides comprehensive ophthalmology eye
care services to patients of all ages. Dr. Gunther specializes in all medical retinal conditions, including
diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration, as well as in general eye
conditions, including cataracts. He is also providing general ophthalmology care, including treatments
for refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, with glasses,
contact lenses and surgical treatment options when needed.
Dr. Gunther completed his medical retina fellowship and
residency in ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine
and Public Health. He also
completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Utah School
of Medicine. Dr. Gunther graduated
from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York
City. He received his Bachelor of
Science degree (magna cum laude) in
finance from Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah.
Dr. Gunther has a keen interest in helping others improve
their vision and quality of life, and has participated in medical volunteer
work in Ghana, Honduras and the Philippines. He has also been a clinical instructor of ophthalmology for
medical students and residents at the University of Wisconsin and has authored
a number of papers and book chapters in the medical literature regarding retinal
diseases.
Dr. Gunther is a member of the American Academy of
Ophthalmology.
On A Personal NoteDr.
Gunther was raised in American Fork, Utah. He and his wife, Lisa, have three children. Dr. Gunther, who speaks Spanish
fluently, is also interested in tennis, hiking, snow and water skiing.
